(The Popular Songbook – New text coming soon)

Les Planes has a deep-rooted musical tradition, mainly singing. In 1922 Joan Llongueras and Joan Tomàs arrived in Les Planes with the aim of collecting Catalan songs for the Cançoner Popular de Catalunya (Popular songbook of Catalunya), an initiative of the patron Rafael Patxot i Jubert under the umbrella of the Orfeó Català (main choral society of Catalunya). As a result of that mission, more than 500 songs were collected, which make up a real tangible heritage. The discovery of this valuable document was made by Joan Arnau, who in the blog “Les Planes, el riu i jo” recounts how it came about

Between 2006 and 2011, six recitals were held with specialist musicians recovering many of these songs.
