Legends of snakes

It was also believed that gigantic snakes lived in the depths of the Brugent River. One of their dens is at the Santa Margarida waterfall, where it is also believed that some bells were hidden so that when the water falls very hard, they can be heard ringing.

The snake in the legends is called Tana. It lived in the Vedruna neighbourhood and was cared for by a local person who fed her with milk. The young man had to leave for military service, and when he returned, Tana had grown enormously. Upon meeting again, Tana's strong embrace suffocated the poor man.

There was also a snake that had a great jewel on its head. You can read about this legend in the children's version below.
